Jungle Encounters provides a unique experience with wild animals as it invites you into the Animal Kingdom. We provide an atmosphere for the children to observe, touch and learn about wild animals while an experienced Zookeeper/Wildlife Educator talks about them. Jungle Encounters isn't just fun, it is a professional, fully licensed and insured organization that has performed hundreds of interactive wildlife experiences for children of all ages to enjoy! Wild Animal Show: This type of show works well when you have a group of students and you want us to perform a show in front of them. The average shows lasts 45-60 minutes. We bring 5-7 animals into the school. We bring 1 animal out at a time to talk about and let the students see up close. We also let the kids pet some of the animals! We have performed this type of show for audiences from 10 to 250 at one time. The smaller the group, the more they seem to get out of it. If you have a large group and would like to split them up into more than one show, just let us know! Or if you would just like the show to run longer than the normal amount of time, we can do that too! We can tailor the topics of the show around your preferences. The students can expect to:

1. interact with wildlife in their own classroom
2. get involved by answering questions like "Can a porcupine throw its quills?"....."Why do birds have feathers?"....."Why do some wild cats have spots?"
3. ask an experienced Zookeeper questions about wildlife
4. learn about the Animal Kingdom, adaptation, evolution, endangered animals, conservation and extinction (or around any current topic you are teaching the students)!

Fairs

We have performed shows at fairs for thousands of people!

Wild Animal Shows: this type of show works well when you want to have us perform in front of an audience. We can either do one 1-hour show or numerous 30-60 minute shows throughout the day! We bring 5-7 animals. We bring one animal out at a time to talk about and let the people see up close. We can also call some kids out of the audience to pet some of the animals!

Birthdays

For birthday parties our main goal is to have FUN while we teach everyone about wild animals! During good weather (dry and 70 degrees or warmer) we can perform the show outside if you wish. Otherwise we can do it inside on a blanket that we provide. This type of show lasts 45-60 minutes* and we bring 5-7 animals. We can bring any of the animals listed on "Our Animals" page to this type of show, except for any of the cats or monkeys. We take one animal out at a time to talk about. And we let the kids pet some of the animals! We have fun with the kids as we introduce them to the Animal Kingdom.

*for groups of children under 5 years old, we can shorten the show to 30 minutes to accomodate their shorter attention spans if you desire.

Libraries

Libraries enjoy having us because it's a great way to promote something the library is doing and it always attracts many people! We can bring any of the animals listed on "Our Animals" page to this type of show!

Our most popular show for libraries is our Intro to Wildlife Show. This show lasts about 1 hour. We bring 5-7 animals. We bring one animal out at a time to talk about and let the people see up close. We can also call a few kids out of the audience to pet some of the animals or we can walk around through the crowd of people with some of the animals to let them pet them!

Nursing Homes

There are numerous types of shows that are popular with nursing homes and retirement centers! We have developed multiple types of shows to accomodate these facilities that enjoy having us back many times each year, so they can always be learning about something different! Whether you're interested in having us do one show or inviting us back many times, any of the shows below are well worth the time!

1 - Wild Animal Shows: this type of show works well when you want to entertain your residents by having us do a wild animal show in front of them. We bring 5-7 animals. We bring one animal out at a time to talk about and let the residents see up close. We can also let the residents pet some of the animals! This is a great way to do something unique and exciting for your residents!

2 - Pet Therapy: this type of show can be done a few different ways:

a. we can bring more"pettable" than "exotic" animals and do the Wild Animal Show listed above

b. we can bring only pettable animals and talk to the residents on a more individual basis. The focus would be to let the residents spend some time with the animals by either petting them for awhile or having them on their laps.

c. we can bring a mixture of animals and go from room to room with them. The focus would be to talk to the residents in a 1-on-1 atmosphere where they could pet some of the animals as I talk about them.

3 - Butterfly Release: this type of show is dedicated to teaching the residents about Backyard Wildlife. We start with introducing them to their own wild backyard and then we focus on the stages of butterfly development. We can either set up a butterfly exhibit that will stay at your facility until the butterflies are ready to be released, so the residents can actually watch the different stages of growth take place. Or we can keep the butterflies at our facility until they are ready to be released, then bring them to your facility, have the same discussion as above, and then have the residents watch the butterflies being released outside! This type of show is a unique experience that the residents enjoy and will find very fascinating! This type of show can only be performed from June through August.

4 - Resident & Animal Appreciation Day: for this type of show we come in with 3-4 animals and we take pictures of the residents with an animal! The residents can keep their picture to show to their friends and family! Not all of our animals are "picture-friendly", we can discuss which ones will be used when you call to book your show.
